Motorcycle Funeral Escort Killed

The motorcycle rider who went to this funeral procession didn't expect that it might well become his also. He was leading the procession and a car hit him killing him on the spot. Sad for his family and the funerary members, it seems to be a day of double sorrow. May god give them the strength to tide over the sad times.

Giant African Land Snails Arrive in Houston

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

The above video displays a news report about the occurrence of the giant African Land Snails in Houston, TX. The news report reveals who found these animals and the dangers associated with handling the animal but doesn't say how these animals got to America. These animals are land snails so they couldn't have swam their way from Africa to America! Someone must have brought a few of these creatures alive for breeding and possibly to sell their colorful shells, now that many of these are running wild it would be difficult to find them and prevent them from infesting the rest of the country.

Hiking in Lake Ray Roberts State Park

It was an evening well spent on the banks of Lake Ray Roberts in the State Park. Though I walked only about 3.5 miles in the lush green forests of the Lake Ray Roberts State Park the experience was definitely worth while. I am glad I have been buying the Texas State Park Pass every year, this enables me to enter any state park in the state of Texas absolutely free.

Anyway earlier this evening I just decided to go there and take a dip in the cool waters of the lake. Drove down to the state park and found that I was among the handful of visitors there. I decided to walk one of the trails there before hitting the water and so was off on the Randy Bell Scenic Trail which is about 2.7 miles long but since I took several detours to get by the lake waters, I probably walked a good 3.5 - 4 miles.

The trail is moderately hilly and completely paved so it is impossible to trip, fall or lose the way. Moreover being surrounded by thick undergrowth, trees, and grasses there is lot of wildlife sighting opportunities. Today I saw several white tailed deer, which are not scared of humans at all, they continue to graze unperturbed even as people walk along the trail. Even the animals know they are safe in the park, if it were in a different setting, the deer would be shot and eaten.

Medical Deportation - American Style

US hospitals send hundreds of immigrants back home
Illegal immigration is a huge problem across the world. Almost every peaceful and prosperous nation is facing this problem of people from its poorer neighbors illegally entering and living in the country. The problem has been highlighted most in the United States which hosts over 12 million illegal immigrants and their legal born children. There is a huge cost to the tax payers in terms of public services, welfare, healthcare, education and other services that these illegal immigrants enjoy but don't pay for.
Anyway according to this article published online, hospitals in the United States are dealing with this problem in their own way. Illegal immigrants who land up in the hospital with serious injuries are quietly deported to their home country and their files closed. These hospitals are taking the law into their hands, immigration is a federal offence, but then the immigration system in the US is broken beyond repair. Instead of waiting for the government to take action some hospitals in the country and taking matters into their hands so their profits wont be sapped up by the illegal immigrants.

New Challenge to American Hospitals

America prides itself for its healthcare system - among the world's best. This is being challenged by small insects - bed bugs. The blood sucking critters are infiltrating hospital bed linens and attacking patients who are already suffering from medical problems. Infection control and quality departments are working overtime to resolve these problems. I wonder how long it will take before they are able to resolve the issues.

Terrorists Families in Denial

One of the two Boston Bombers have been captured and the other killed but some of their family members are in denial and have vehemently denied their involvement. The most common statements from the family members include: "They could not have done it. There is no evidence," aunt. Then the father said "someone framed them," another uncle said "I don't believe this" The mother insists that it was a frame up. Then someone else was quoted in the media saying that America radicalized them, etc.

I see a very typical pattern in all these quotes. Blame the victim which is a characteristic of Islamic terrorism. They perpetrate heinous acts and blame the victim. Even in non terror incidents this is how it works. We can recall the gang rape of a Saudi woman few years ago. When the victim complained the court inflicted punishment on the woman and let the men go scot free. This is sad but that is mostly how it works.

The world needs to wake up to this reality and deal with such people.

Boston Bombers - Captured or Killed

The two sick Islamist terrorists who are allegedly the perpetrators of the Boston Marathon Bombings are now in the custody of the law enforcement. Swift work and great job by the American law enforcement officials. That shows not only the hard working nature of the police officers here but also the political will and corruption free atmosphere the people here enjoy. When it comes to anti-American activities there is simply no pardon, everything is set aside and people work together as one nation. To say that I am impressed would be an understatement. I definitely salute the law enforcement and politicians who gave them unfettered power to go after the culprits and bring them in.

The Scenario in Bengaluru which also experienced serious blasts is quite the opposite, politicians are playing the blame game, people are back in their routines, media has forgotten the incident and now it occupies the inside pages of the newspapers. Police probably are just adding pages to the case and doing some paper pushing. Terrorists are probably laughing and partying away and planning their next attack. That is the pathetic state of affairs in the world's most populous democracy.

If I was in India reading this very post, I would be enraged and say what does the writer know, he is living in the comfort of America. One thing those in India must understand, we maybe far away from the country but we still love India and feel frustrated when such events take place and people just sit around and twiddle their thumbs. I want to see those involved in the recent Terrorist attacks in Bengaluru brought in front of the law and killed like the Mumbai terrorist. Same goes with every single anti-India person who wants to commit treason. This can only happen when the common people in India take action and do something - voting for the right candidate would be a good start. Getting actively involved in the community/ social well being by setting aside narrow political, caste wars aside would be even better. This will defeat the anti-National forces easily.

Phrase Mocking Asians on NJ CVS Photo Tix - Yahoo! Finance

Despite decades of protests and living together as one nation, some sections of America continues to be racist. An obvious example comes out in this news report. I don't think racism is going to end as long mankind is alive on this earth. We just have to live with it and face it when it happens and continue to work towards creating a race-less society.

Great Response to Terror Attack in Boston

'Cowards' Billboard Lights Up Boston Skyline in Wake of Blasts | ABC News Blogs - Yahoo!
Great Idea to intimidate the terrorists... wish the idea were implemented elsewhere in the world. The sick people who decided to commit such a heinous act are currently laughing but will be seething in anger when they see this billboard.

I am quite impressed by the thought behind the billboard as it clearly conveys the message that we maybe temporarily hurt and facing a setback but we will not bow down to cowards like you. Quite good. Boston Rocks.... Terrorism Sucks...

Boston Healing Through Prayers

One thing about America whenever there is a great calamity people gather together in the church and pray. The prayers will comfort the living affected and the relatives of those who succumbed. This kind of religious outlook is good for the society and keeps everyone together. At a time like this people don't think whether he is Jew, protestant, baptist or Methodist or catholic or even whether it is a Hindu or someone else who is hurting... everyone gathers in the Church and prays.

President Obama who visited the memorial and prayer service at Boston was quoted in MSN saying "You will run again!" That is nice, coming from the President.

Looking at the same scenario in Bengaluru, India where blasts rocked the city yesterday, the politicians are still playing the blame game and trying to find the culprits. No mention has been made about the people affected and killed. Nothing at all. It is pathetic to see so much apathy. I know few people directly affected by the blast and they are definitely not being comforted the way people here are doing it. It is business as usual in India because this kind of bombings are common and have been happening for the past three decades.

Wonder when these sick minded cowards who perpetrate such attacks will be eliminated from the face of the earth.

Boston to Bangalore - Suffering Terrorism

The Boston Marathon suffered some serious calamities due to bomb blasts. Now it is the turn of Bangalore, one of the most peaceful cities in India until recently. Not anymore. It is becoming a hotbed of terrorism and other nefarious activities, thanks to indiscriminate population growth and development secondary to the IT boom.

This time the blast was politically motivated, targeted at the only political party that somewhat sympathizes with the majority community of the nation. Cowardice of the perpetrators comes to fore once again in the modus operandi of the entire operation. The similar pattern of keeping explosives in a motorcycle and abandoning it in some populated location. This is primarily to strike fear in the minds of public and destroying their property.

All that I can say is that these people whoever perpetrated the crimes are simply cowards, even to show their faces. They don't have the courage to stand up and fight so they indulge in covert warfare. It is time the good people of this world take matters into their hands and punish such people severely.

Boston Carnage - America Under Attack

America is under attack from terrorists - internal and external - bent on destroying the freedom that the people of this country have enjoyed for a long time. The country's premium sporting event The Boston Marathon came under attack during the past 48 hrs. This attack on a sporting event has left 170 people injured a few dead. This cowardly attack resembles that of terrorism. Sick people who are not brave enough to declare war but covertly attack innocent public. It is a wonder that this attack comes at a time when Osama Bin Laden's son-in-law is set to appear in a civilian court in New York. Is this attack an Islamic response to that? I don't know, nothing has been revealed at this point in time. I sure hope that the truth comes out and whoever perpetrated this attack is suitably punished.

Gender Bias against men is proliferating!!!

Even as feminists and women's organizations across the world are creating a hue and cry about gender bias there is a slow, but steady revolution taknkg place. The Bias against MEN, yes MEN is growing and proliferating rapidly thanks to the internet and other global media.

I came across this article on the internet while browsing and was shocked to see that the author is actually justifying cheating by women. As expected there is not a single readers response to this article, I don't know if it is because nobody bothered to read this or if everyone who read it agreed with it. Whatever the reason maybe the time is coming when men will face the tables turning and will face oppression from women.... Of course if one were to listen to NPR then there are enough male intellectuals out there who are making a case against their own kind.

It will be interesting to wait and watch as the future unfolds.

Growing Poverty in America

It is true America is also slowly but surely becoming like rest of the world. Rich get richer, poor get poorer and the middle class is struggling to pay for the welfare of latter and luxury of the former. According to a newsreport on MSN: "The number of suburban residents living in poverty rose by nearly 64 percent between 2000 and 2011." That is an astounding statistic. At this rate there will be no middle class after a few decades. There will be only two classes the rich minority and the poor majority. I wonder what checks and balances exist in the American constitution/ capitalistic economic model to stem the tide of poverty from sweeping across the nation. We will have to just wait and watch.

Is Pope Francis really non-European?

There has been much hue and cry across the world since the resignation of Pope Benedict and appointment of Pope Francis. He has been touted as the "First non-European Pope" and so on and so forth. I have a simple question: Is he really non-European? and Who is media trying to fool? Is the media and Catholic church trying to make a fool of everyone in the world? Come on! have some logic. Just because Jorge Bergoglio aka Pope Francis I was born in Buenos Aires, it doesn't make him non-European. His parents were Italians - aka Europeans.

Whatever the media may assert and the Catholic church may proclaim, this new pope is as European as one can get. The media is just trying to hoodwink people into believing that the Catholic church has become open to having non-European Pope. They haven't even gone out of their own nation, Pope Francis is a "person of Italian Origins". Stop the media frenzy please. Reference: NPR

Money - the Focus of America

Close at heels of the other story I blogged about is this one about the US Catholic Church. As I exited from my Hotmail account this headline screamed out for attention: "US Catholic Church a $170 billion business". The article, written in the aftermath of the appointment of new pope in the Vatican is all about the challenges that he would be facing. This article focuses on the $170 billion business of the Catholic churches. The write up draws broad comparisons between the Catholic church and the few corporations that spend as much money ($170 billion) in a year. There is no data on how much the church makes, I am pretty sure it is a lot more compared to how much it spends.

U.S. lost $433,982,548 because of Daylight Savings Time switch | The Sideshow - Yahoo! News

Everything in America is about economy, money, commerce, business, whatever name you call it. People here are so money oriented that everything they do is centered around the greenback. There are zillion scientists who are churning out numbers of what it costs the country and its people. The newsreport below is a classic example.
