Syrian violence threatens ancient treasures - Yahoo! News

Even when there was no civil conflict the world stood by as mute witnesses when the Bamiyan Buddha statues were destroyed by the marauding mobs of Islamists. It serves no purpose publishing reports on this kind of incidents when nobody wants to do anything. Even if the conflict ends by the dethroning of the current President, Syria will most probably fall into the hands of Taliban and Al Qaeda who will officially destroy these treasures. There is no winning where Islamists are involved, if you don't destroy them, they will decimate you.
