The Daytona race plunged into a pall of gloom after this serious crash. Perils of being on the fast track, not just for the drivers but for spectators as well. Hopefully the rest of the races will take place without any incidents.

Another example of media hype. Social media and internet continues to blur the line that distinguishes what is and isn't news. This story doesn't deserve headlines but it has hogged headlines simply because it went viral. There seems to be an absolute lack of maturity amongst news media when it comes to publishing.

A homeless man in Kansas City, Mo., made national headlines more than a week ago when he returned a valuable platinum and diamond engagement ring accidentally dropped into his cup of change by a woman offering some extra cash. Now, hundreds of donors have contributed more than $16,000 to a page on GiveForward.com to help Billy Ray Harris get his life back on track. The man's rewards don't stop with financial help -- the media story helped him connect with a brother in Lubbock, Texas, he hasn't seen in nearly 30 years.

Even when there was no civil conflict the world stood by as mute witnesses when the Bamiyan Buddha statues were destroyed by the marauding mobs of Islamists. It serves no purpose publishing reports on this kind of incidents when nobody wants to do anything. Even if the conflict ends by the dethroning of the current President, Syria will most probably fall into the hands of Taliban and Al Qaeda who will officially destroy these treasures. There is no winning where Islamists are involved, if you don't destroy them, they will decimate you.
