What about gifts you are going to give to your loved ones. I have always believed in giving the perfect gift - something that the recipient has always wanted. It is quite tough to be able to read someone's mind and give them the gift that is desired.
The closest one can get is giving an instrument that will enable your loved one to get what they desire. After all we want the best for our loved ones. I'm always excited on Diwali. I love candles, so my love for this festival is obvious. For me, decoration on diwali is very important, which I do using flowers, candles and diyas. This year I am away from my family...:(
My favorite diwali memory is when I had a fight with my brother and with all the money I saved from my pocket money, I bought gifts for him. He was extremely excited:) I can never forget the way he reacted after looking at so many gifts...

Diwali has been my favorite festival since I was a small child. Like you it was all about getting together with my cousins and enjoying good times. Now that we are all adults getting together is quite impossible... sad that as adults and more mature we tend to separate than get together... I am glad that my parents generation ensured that we got together at least once a year.
