ISI Strikes again at those who can't fight back!!!

ISI has struck again, this time it is against a civilian and that too a woman. Sunanda Pushkar wife of Congress minister Shashi Tharoor was found dead in a hotel room in New Delhi yesterday morning. As described in media reports, the death has taken place under "Mysterious circumstances" and all fingers are pointing at the husband Shashi Tharoor who, it seems has not had luck with matrimony. Pushkar was his third wife per media reports.


According to media reports, it seems like Tharoor had already had enough with the third wife and is actively pursuing a fourth - this time he is allegedly sleeping with the enemy. Reports are rife that Tharoor has an active liaison with a particular Pakistani Journalist. It is important to note that the late Pushkar had accused the Pakistani media person to be an ISI agent and the reason she was with Tharoor was to get inside info to supply to her bosses. Now not long after the accusation Pushkar has been killed.

The sudden turn of events, make it seem quite obvious that there is a foreign hand, particularly ISI agents and/ or other Pakistan affiliated terrorists. Pakistan is known to use covert and below the belt techniques to attack its arch enemy - India. This is just another way to further infiltrate the already compromised Central government of India.

It is unfortunate that most media outlets don't see it this way. Of course the ruling Congress government doesn't want to even think about this death or the ramifications it has on the future of our country. They are busy in creating a drama about their chosen prime ministerial candidate.

Justice delayed is Justice Denied... well almost...

I have been following the case of Major Nidal Hassan the Muslim American army officer who turned his gun on his colleagues because they were fighting against Muslims in the middle east. To me and rest of the members of the public the case looks very straight forward. Nidal killed and injured army staff, the people who are hired to protect the nation. There are enough witnesses, and a confession too. It should be easy to put him to death and finish the case. But, US army is not finding it so easy, they think the case is complicated and continue to hold Nidal in prison and pay him his official salary. New reports that have emerged indicate that it may be impossible to put Nidal to death.

Looks like the American Justice system is stumbling along unsure of what to do. Few years ago India experienced one of the most deadly terrorist attacks and one Pakistani citizen was captured alive and his trail also took a long time but ultimately he was put to death by hanging. I wonder if that is a good enough precedent for America to follow. It is time the members of the slain service members families get the justice they deserve and the deceased souls rest in peace. Enough of paying taxpayers dollars to a traitor.

Medical Deportation - American Style

Illegal immigration is a huge problem across the world. Almost every peaceful and prosperous nation is facing this problem of people from its poorer neighbors illegally entering and living in the country. The problem has been highlighted most in the United States which hosts over 12 million illegal immigrants and their legal born children. There is a huge cost to the tax payers in terms of public services, welfare, healthcare, education and other services that these illegal immigrants enjoy but don't pay for.
Anyway according to this article published online, hospitals in the United States are dealing with this problem in their own way. Illegal immigrants who land up in the hospital with serious injuries are quietly deported to their home country and their files closed. These hospitals are taking the law into their hands, immigration is a federal offence, but then the immigration system in the US is broken beyond repair. Instead of waiting for the government to take action some hospitals in the country and taking matters into their hands so their profits wont be sapped up by the illegal immigrants.

India on the verge of losing the Taj Mahal

I read a lot of news and those that really touch my heart I blog about it. Here is a news report about two things I feel passionately about: India and its heritage monuments. I read this news report titled The Taj Mahal in danger of collapse on the online DOTW News portal. I am definitely sad but I am not surprised at all. India is one nation with a large population and a relatively small landmass. Coupled with the fact that India is full of heritage monuments, almost every small village in the country has historical temples and structures that need to be preserved.

Now given the small land mass of country, our ancestors should not have been so magnanimous to give away large tracts of territory to create smaller nations of Pakistan and Bangladesh. As if adding insult to injury the our people have ceded a third of land in Jammu & Kashmir to Pakistan to create Pak Occupied Kashmir and some more land to China in the contiguous Ak-Siachen region. Then there is the dispute with China over Arunachal Pradesh, then the Narasimha Rao government as recently as during the 1990s ceded some part of the Tin Bigha corridor to Bangladesh which has now been completely leased (read given away) to Bangladesh recently. Now with so little land left for such a huge population there is simply not enough resources in Mother India to feed, clothe and house the teeming billions.

Then we have our self-serving politicians and businessmen and the so-called societal leaders who are more interested in stripping the country of its riches and filling their own coffers. The net result natural resources of the country are ravaged, antiquities are sold. The Taj Mahal being in this kind of precarious condition is the result of this kind of the rapacity of the country.

There is a saying in Sanskrit "Yatha Raja, thatha Praja" meaning "How the king is, that is how the citizens will be". With the country being ruled by corrupt, self-serving politicians, the nations populous is equally corrupt if not more. Nobody is concerned about anything that belongs to the society, everyone is bothered only about his/ her self, immediate family, bank accounts, property. So who cares about the Taj? The media which should play the role of a promoter of national interest is doing the exact opposite. They make heroes out of terrorists and villains of the soldiers and police.

The net result is drying up of rivers, damage to our heritage and monuments like Taj will collapse. I am sure the bureaucrats and politicians who are talking about protecting the monument are more interested in the pickings they can get out of the contracts they will award to engineers, architects and builders rather than really restoring and protecting the Taj.

Politician's Drama

Back home in India the elections are going on to elect a new government. Around this time every politician worth his salt will indulge in tactics to gain sympathy, support and finally garner enough votes to win. And of course once they win, politicians will get busy in their own lives... making money, partying, foreign junkets, transfers, getting their loyalists into key positions, etc.

Couple of days ago I received these e-mail forward of two images about two well known politicians in India. One young and inexperienced and another old and a tad too experienced. But both have one thing in common: Political Drama. If the younger one wanted to show that he is with the people in their struggle, the older one wanted to struggle for the people. But both ended making a fool of themselves in front of the thinking class (educated people in India who don't vote but comment liberally about what should be done to make the country developed).

Veteran politician Karunanidhi created a world record, the shortest Fast unto death. Yes the septuagenarian fasted for 4 hours by sleeping in air conditioned comfort. The fast started after breakfast and ended before lunchtime

I am sure Indian politicians would have made lot more money and achieved respectable fame if they had become comedians. But now they are making a joke of our country by behaving in this ridiculously comical fashion.

Worst kind of politics by Kerala CM

This is something that can happen only in India. A chief minister insulting a slain soldier's parents is something that should never happen in any nation. And this is exactly what the great Achutanandan did in Bangalore recently. The CM of Kerala has had the audacity to say that not even a dog would have gone to the home of late Major Unnikrishnan. I wonder how he got elected in the first place and what the people are doing keeping him in power. This kind of characters should be divested of power and sent to prison for disrespecting the sacrifices of a martyr.

I wonder if there is any depth that a politician can stoop to... This is the most Thanklessness one can show. This type of people are those who surround themselves with security guards even to go to the bathroom, what does he think of himself. If he had any conscience he would have resigned or at least sanctioned money for purchase of high-tech protective gear for the security forces.

Teenagers elected to run two US Cities

What is common between Bedford (Tx)-based Chris Brown (19) and Muskogee (Ok)-based John Tyler Hammons (19)? They both are going to cast vote to elect the American president later this year. They both are underaged to buy alcohol or enter into a nightclub in the US. They both are in their college and studying hard for future careers. This is what most young people of their age are doing anyway, what is special about these two?

For one thing both of them were recently elected to the City Council and Mayor positions in their cities, with thumping majorities. While John Tyler Hammons won the Mayor's post with 57 percent of the vote over former Mayor Hershel Ray McBride, Chris Brown, successfully won a heavily-contested race for the Bedford City Council by an overwhelming margin. Hammons is a freshman in at the University of Oklahoma and Brown is a political science major in University of North Texas.

Commendable achievements considering the youngsters age. These young men have swayed huge populations (Bedford: 48,000 and Muskagee 38,000) in their respective cities to win with overwhelming majorities which even seasoned politicians find difficult to achieve. What is the secret of these victories? I would say a combination of self-confidence, enthusiasm and hardwork.

According to newsreports Brown worked diligently on his campaign, including spending several days going door-to-door to meet voters. He also raised about $5,000 – much of it in contributions of $5 or $10 from college friends. The results paid off, with Brown sweeping to victory in the Place 6 race with 83.7 percent of the vote. Opponent Jim Wallace, a closed-captioning editor, took 16.3 percent.

What is impressive about these young men is that though they have been elected to key city positions, they retain their youthful humility. Brown will take a break from school during the summer and return to his part-time job as a waiter at Raven's Grille at Texas Star Golf Course in Euless. And Hammons will continue with his studies at the University.

I think this kind of opportunity will help give confidence and enterprise to youth and should be emulated in other parts of the world. This is the only way we could make sure that the world is in safe hands.
